Internet Lauds ‘Spoiled’ Boxer Who Demands Mom Tuck Her In at Night

A spoiled dog named Poppy has melted hearts on social media with her one request before bed in a video that has quickly gone viral.
In the clip, shared on TikTok on Thursday, under the username @princess.poppyyy, the boxer can be seen standing on the bed while looking at her owner with puppy-dog eyes, ready for bed but not quite yet. As soon as her owner says, “Come on,” Poppy gets herself comfortable in bed, waiting for her owner to tuck her in for the night.
“When you’re spoiled af [as f***],” text in the clip reads, followed by a caption that adds: “She wanted me to pull the covers back so she could get under the blanket and be on the pillows.”
The poster, Vanessa Nelson, from Connecticut, told Newsweek that Poppy who was born on a Pennsylvania farm on Christmas Day six years ago, has been with her since college, when she picked her up because she needed a friend.
“She has been with me ever since, through my college degree, through moving to my first apartment, and all my big milestones so far in my life,” Nelson said.
“Two of her favorite things are going to [beauty store] Sephora with me and getting pup cups from Starbucks. She loves to take naps and cry until she gets everything she wants.
Another thing she loves is cuddling in bed with her daddy and me watching shows.”
The American Kennel Club (AKC) says that slightly less than half of all dog owners share their bed or at least their bedroom with their pooches, and there are many benefits to co-sleeping with your dog, which they say is “nothing to be ashamed of.”
However, the AKC adds that there are some health concerns related to sleeping with your dog, as, for example, they can aggravate human allergies. Additionally, there is also the risk of transmitting disease, even though “such transmission is rare.”
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 2.2 million views and more than 370,000 likes on the platform.
One user, SamGill2496, commented: “I have a boxer dachshund, literally perfect 50/50 mix of the two breeds but he does this too lol [laugh out loud].”
Kristan posted: “At the end she was looking like, ‘Now turn on the tv.”
Misty Rosas added: “My cat bashes his head into my head in the middle of the night if I am not in the correct cuddling position.”
